  • 5. Types of Tuition - One to One & Paired Lessons
One to one and paired lessons are a great way to boost confidence, build on skills and improve academic performance. Lessons are tailored to suit each individual student’s level and needs. Our teaching style and methods differ for each student depending on their age, level, subject knowledge, needs and personality. We take different approaches when explaining concepts; simplifying them and making them easy to understand. Years of experience gives us the edge: we know exactly which approach to take to bring our students the most effective learning experience.
  • 6. Types of Tuition - Group Lessons
Info for all Students Depending on the course being offered, the student may be required to undertake a free assessment before entering a group to ensure they are grouped with students with similar needs and ability. Lessons are planned well in advance to create structured, interactive and enjoyable lessons. Our students get a lot out of the lessons and love learning with us. We make learning fun and adapt lessons to suit the individual needs of the group as well as the whole group’ needs. Information for Primary and Secondary Students Group lessons are an excellent way for students to develop their social skills and independent learning skills. We don't give homework to students in group sessions for numerous reasons. For more individually targeted tuition (with or without homework at your request) we recommend one to one lessons. Despite our love for all children and strong desire for inclusion, it is best that children with behavioural difficulties learn on a one-to-one basis rather than in a group. Disruption to lessons not only hinders the learning of all students, but it can also be detrimental to the wellbeing of the student who is misbehaving. We understand the need for love, support and interpersonal relationships when children are facing behavioural difficulties and can better tend to these needs in a one to one setting. We also provide a mentoring service for students who are facing behavioural, emotional and academic difficulties. Our tutors have a wealth of SEN experience and can provide one to one tuition for children with specific needs. Tutors and mentors can work with parents to find the best approach for their child. Students who are really struggling and well below their class average would benefit more with one to one support.

  • 9. How do the payments work?
You pay for the first lesson up front via our website. If you are happy to continue, which we are sure you will be 😊, our lovely Head of Tuition, Finance and Administration (Clare) will set up a subscription for you. Subscriptions secure the student's slot with their tutor so as no other student can book that day and time. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time but we request that at least 2 weeks's notice is given prior to cancelling.
  • 10. Does tutoring help?

  • 12. What happens if the student does not attend a scheduled class?
Unfortunately, no shows and last-minute cancellations cannot be rescheduled/refunded. Please give your tutor at least 24 hours’ notice if you would like to reschedule. If a face-to-face, one-to-one lesson cannot be attended, we provide online tuition instead. Online can even be taken over a mobile phone on WhatsApp so you don't miss out on the lesson.
  • 13. How do I change the day/time of my weekly lessons?
If you would like to change the day/time of the lessons, you can contact your tutor to request the change. Kindly ensure that you give your tutor at least one week’s notice. • 16. Can I see a full copy of your Terms and Conditions?
Of course! Here you are :) Super Tutors’ Academy's terms and conditions have been created to provide the best teaching and learning experience to all. We invest in the best resources, learning platforms, and management systems so that our business operates optimally. The following explanations are written from the perspective of face to face lessons but also apply to online lessons. * How do payments work? In order to manage finance effectively, we require advance payments. Payments can be made for one-off lessons, but for recurring lessons, payments are made monthly or termly via subscription. This secures the lesson slot for you for that period and helps us minimise administrative duties. This in turn gives us more time to work towards resource building, lesson planning, and teacher professional development. Payments are set up online via your Tutor Cruncher account. Our preferred method is payment via Direct Debit, however we also accept debit and credit cards. If you miss a subscription payment, the lesson slot may be allocated to another student - however, we will contact you before doing this. * How are subscriptions costs calculated? To spread the cost of lessons for you, we average the cost of the total number of lessons across the academic year to work out a monthly (or termly, if you prefer) charge. For example, if you are having weekly lessons, you will have 36 lessons in the academic year. We divide the total cost of these lessons across the 10 months of the academic year, so you pay the same amount for each of the 10 months. Subscriptions also vary depending on whether the student is sitting exams in the academic year, as this may reduce the length of time for which lessons are desired. * Can I reschedule a lesson? One to One and Paired Tuition: Tutors require at least 24 hours’ notice for rescheduling. Please let us know well in advance any days the student will not be able to attend (e.g. future holidays, events). The more notice we have, the more likely it is that we will be able to accommodate you. Please note, our tutors are in high demand and due to their limited availability, rescheduling can at times be difficult. Excessive rescheduling requests or no shows may result in losing the lesson slot. Group Tuition: Group tuition is usually provided in a block of lessons, per term or per course. The dates are fixed dates and cannot be rescheduled. When group tuition is provided as a course to a company or specific group of clients, rescheduling is at the discretion of the tutor providing the course. * What if the student is too sick to attend? In the case of illness for one to one and paired tuition, the lesson can be rescheduled as long as we have received at least 24 hours' notice. If students are well enough, they can take the lesson online. Please note, at such short notice the tutor will not have had time to prepare an online lesson, but they will do their best to cover the planned material. Group lessons cannot be rescheduled. * How do online lessons work? Tutors may use our online learning platform but will initially connect with you via WhatsApp, Zoom or Skype. The beauty about online tuition is that the lesson can be taken almost anywhere. Lessons can be carried out on your mobile phone but for the best online learning experience, we recommend a tablet, PC or laptop. * What if I forget about the lesson? One to One and Paired Tuition: The tutor will WhatsApp the student or their parent/guardian within 5 minutes of their not arriving to class. Please let tutors know if you are running late. If you arrive within 30 minutes of the scheduled lesson start time, the tutor will provide tutoring for the remaining lesson time. However, if you are more than 30 minutes late, the lesson will not run at all and will be deemed a no show. Group Lessons: During group lessons, tutors are busy tending to the needs of their students and may not be able to WhatsApp a lesson reminder to the student or their parent/guardian. If you arrive within 30 minutes of the scheduled lesson start time, you may join the lesson for the remaining lesson time. However, if you are more than 30 minutes late, you may not join the lesson and will be deemed a no show. To avoid missing lessons, please set alarms or reminders on your mobile devices. * Why do I have to pay for missed lessons? We pay our tutors for their time here. In addition, tutors put a lot of time and preparation into lessons. They also spend a considerable amount of time prior to the lesson when communicating with parents/guardians/students and our admin team. Therefore, in the event of a no show or, for one to one or paired tuition, a cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will not receive a refund. Missed group lessons are non-refundable To get the most out of tuition, it is important that students attend on a regular basis to reinforce and build on learning. No shows and last-minute cancellations can inhibit student learning, and progress. * What if my tutor can’t make the lesson? One of the challenges that students/parents/guardians face when going through a private tutor is being let down by constant cancellations and lesson rescheduling. This is unlikely to happen at Super Tutors' Academy. Our tutors are dedicated, consistent and reliable. However, if a tutor is unable to make a lesson, we will try and find a substitute tutor to take their place. If this is not possible, we will reschedule the lesson. All our tutors are highly qualified, experienced and excellent! We keep up to date lesson plans and records of students' needs and learning, and regularly communicate with each other. This means that when substituting, we know exactly what to work on with the student/s. For group lessons, if we cannot find a suitable substitute, we will credit your account with the lesson amount. If the missed lesson is the last lesson in a course or term, we will refund the lesson amount. * Can I change my lesson form? Depending on lesson availability, you can change from group to one to one, face to face to online, and vice versa. We can transfer your credit and edit your payment plan accordingly. Please contact us to discuss your options. * What if I can't make it because of bad weather? If weather warnings are mild, or if there is snow but no weather warnings, lessons will continue as usual and the standard cancellation policy will apply. If weather warnings are in place and we decide not to hold face to face lessons, the tutor will offer you an online lesson. If online is not an option, the lesson will be carried over until it is safe to resume face to face lessons. * How do I cancel lessons entirely? Can I get a refund? Please let us know as soon as you decide to cancel lessons. For group lessons, a 2 week notice period is required to cancel. We will cancel your subscription and calculate whether your account is in credit or debit, depending on how many lessons you have had in the academic year to date. For one to one and paired tuition, if you have less than 24 hours’ notice until your next scheduled lesson, that lesson will be included in the chargeable lessons for the year. If your account is in credit, we will refund that credit. If your account is in debit, by agreeing to these Terms & Conditions you agree to pay us any monies owed. * What if I am not happy with something? At Super Tutors' Academy we believe that communication is key to progression. Please always let us know your thoughts, feelings and suggestions. We greatly value and appreciate your custom and feedback, and strive to provide you with the best service at all times. Should you have any feedback or concerns, please contact our Director, Julie-Anne: julie@supertutorsacademy.com 07592068014
